Meditation – A Requirement To Exploring the Non-Physical

Tom Campbell (http://www.my-big-toe.com/forums/index.php) talks a bit in his books and lectures about “Belief Traps” and how they can trap us into a certain way of thinking or trap us into ignoring something fundamental to our journey here.

I was thinking about that yesterday and trying to figure out what kind of belief traps I’ve been trapped in over the past little while.  In a post I made back at the end of December (How I Came To My Beliefs), I made the distinction that there was a point where I didn’t know that I was allowed to believe something that ended up being very important towards what I needed to know in order to progress.

I’ve noticed that this is a Belief Trap… and it’s one that I’ve still been trapped in for a while as well.  I have to thank Tom for opening my eyes to such information and to realize that I am allowed know certain things in order to progress.  I notice it a lot in others now too, it’s those times when people post questions on the Astral Pulse asking if it’s okay if they do so-and-so.

As I’ve been progressing along my non-physical path as of late, I’ve slowly been coming to the conclusion that a base knowledge in meditation is a prerequisite for learning how to explore the wider reality.  This isn’t something I learned from Tom, it’s something that I’ve been slowly coming to terms with myself over the last few months.  However, Tom’s “Belief Trap” ideas were the catalyst for me to understand this.  I needed someone to tell me that I was allowed to know this, as strange as that might sound.  I can apply and confirm it by looking at my own past experience as I’ve spent the last 15 years of my life learning how to meditate.  Through that time, I never once considered how that has helped me along my current path of experiencing the non-physical.

Well, the truth is that it has greatly helped me.  This is why and how I found Frank Kepples Phasing exercises so much easier to do and learn from when compared to the classic separation OBEs (aka Monroe-style), because, in essence, they ARE meditation exercises.  I just took it for granted that certain things that I did when using the Noticing or Rundown exercises were normal and that everyone just automatically did them too.  Well, they’re not.  They’re something I’ve learned to do over the last decade and a half.  Stuff like learning how to quiet your mind (surface thoughts), fully relaxing the body upon command and being alone with your consciousness.  These are skills/tools that one *needs* to learn if “conscious exit” projections is on their list of things “to do”.

To do a conscious exit by Phasing, you have to meditate to get into the proper state first.  Sure, we have a couple of “exercises” which you can do to assist you to get there, but they’re not really “exercises”, they are “meditations”.  They’re designed to assist you to discover the act of quieting your thoughts and focusing your mind towards a single intent.  A byproduct of that is, when you get deep enough and good enough, the “point of consciousness” experience that Tom talks about.  This is, in essence, phasing to Focus 21 (the void), which is the Phasing/Projection experience.  That’s exactly what we’re doing when we practice Noticing or Mental Rundowns.  We’re quieting our mind and focusing it upon a single intent.  That intent takes the form of “noticing the blackness” or “visualizing a scene”.  <– They become TOOLS to move our consciousness away from this physical awareness and our physical senses… taking us to the “Point of Consciousness”.

So, if you want to experience the non-physical in all its larger glory… put down all your preconceived notions about methods this and techniques that, and just learn to be alone with your consciousness.  Master yourself before you try to master the larger reality, for that is the real journey.  The non-physical is only a small part of your being… and the fact you’re here in this physical reality in the first place is proof enough of that.

Tom Campbell\’s \”My Big TOE\” and Forums!

I\’ve been watching a lot of lectures done by Thomas Campbell, author of \”My Big TOE\”… I\’ve also been reading said book.
I\’ll just point out that this isn\’t DIRECTLY about Astral Projection, but he does speak about the very nature of the reality we exist within… and the other non-physical realities that we also exist in.

Suffice to say that his TOE (Theory of Everything) is very concise and answers a lot of questions about our reality. It even answers questions that science hasn\’t been able to find answers for! That\’s a +1 in my books for it. LoL

In any case, I highly advise that you pickup and read this book. He\’s written it in such a way that anyone, physicist or not, can understand his model.

I\’ve also signed up and started posting over on his forum… I suggest if you have any interest in his work to do so as well. 🙂

See you over there!

Connection Between Classic OBEs and Phasing

I\’ve recently figured out for myself the connection between Classic Separation OBEs and Phasing.  Simply put, a classic obe is what comes about when you interrupt a phasing practice and initiate an \”exit technique\” and alternatively, if you\’re doing a classic separation obe and instead of initiating an exit technique you just kept doing what you were doing, you\’ll eventually phase directly into the Astral.

Three things came forth recently to get me to this line of thinking.  I first began thinking about this back when I was reading about when Frank had to slow down his own projections in order to have a RTZ Projection.  Next there was a method posted on the Astral Viewers from one of their Admins, Bedeekin.  His made mention of the method that he used for many, many years that was successful for him.  Well, one part of his method takes him to what sounds like a deep Focus 10/early Focus 12, which as I know it is the precursor to a proper Phasing attempt.  However, he then interrupts that Phasing process and initiates an exit technique. Then just now I got to thinking about a night when I experienced this particular thing first hand and, as Frank would say, the penny dropped.

My experience was back in March 2010, and I\’ll relay that quickly before moving on.  I went to bed on the Saturday night as usual.  It was around 2am.  That night I gained a lucid awareness in the dream I was having which was taking place just outside my house.   Some time went by and I began to feel that usual sensation that meant I was beginning to physically wake up.  The dream faded to black, I felt a shift, and I felt myself back in my bed.  I now recognize this state as Focus 12, as I didn\’t fully wake up.  I didn\’t bother opening my eyes, since I knew where I was.  This was the first time I ever experienced and learned about what I call the \”Eyes Closed/Body Still\” state upon waking.  Well, almost immediately, I felt another shift and I found myself in another lucid awareness experience.  This happened two more times.  All four lucid awareness experiences happened quite rapidly and in succession.  Each time I was in the non-physical for what felt like 2 – 4 minutes.  Each time I phased back to the physical, I kept that \”Eyes Closed/Body Still\” state.

After the fourth experience something strange and completely unexpected happened.  I attempted to slip back into another lucid awareness experience like I did the four times previous, but I didn\’t quite make it in.  I felt that it was immediately slipping away.  What I usually do to strengthen the experience in this kind of situation (as I\’ve mentioned on the forums before) is spin, but it\’s usually done while already having the lucid awareness experience, this time I don\’t believe I actually got all the way into the non-physical!  So I started spinning trying to get a grip on the experience, however after probably 3 seconds of spinning I felt I had fully lost the dream, however I was also still sleeping and I felt I was in my bedroom.

I couldn\’t see anything yet, but I felt my arms and legs floating upwards and the distinct \”separation\” feeling.  I sat up and kinda floated awkwardly upwards a bit and towards the end of the bed, kind of out of control.  By the time I had fully cleared my body, my vision came in.  I\’m not sure if I had chose to see or if it just clicked on, but either way I could see.

So that\’s it, that\’s the connection.  By interrupting a normal Phasing session at a certain point, you can then initiate an exit technique and have a classic separation OBE.  This also works in reverse, in that if you\’re going for a classic separation obe, you can for-go the exit technique and just keep doing what you\’re doing and you\’ll end up Phasing directly into the \”astral\”.  So for people who have problems having \”astral projections\” this is what I suggest you try.

We should be able to use this information to guide where we want to go in the non-physical directly from the get-go.  If you\’re someone who only does RTZ projections and wish to visit the greater non-physical (astral), then simply stop doing your usual exit technique and just keep doing what you were doing prior to that and eventually you\’ll phase.  And if you\’re a phaser and wish to experience the RTZ, then interrupt your phasing practice in Focus 12 and initiate an exit technique.

A Thought on Retaining Consciousness in the Non-physical

Tajtas, on the Astral Pulse asked the question, “Ive been trying so hard to get it past 25 seconds… When I realize I’m dreaming I start drifting away and then I woke up. Has anyone have had a LONG lucid dream, dozens of minutes? Is it possible hours or days?”.

The_One made a nice response, “I’ve had this problem. It’s quite simple when you think about it. Don’t get excited, concentrate on a animated character (can be any thing). As, don’t think “I’m about to wake up because I’m lucid”. (Easier said than done).
I’ve substained a dream for so long doing this, I got worried that there was something wrong with my body. As over doing this will pull you out of lucidity and back into the dream.
Hope this helps.”

This got me thinking about why something like that works… I wondered if the effect of how we initially Phase into the non-physical can provide us with a clue about how to REMAIN in the non-physical.  We know that there’s a fine balancing act that must be done to Phase… you need to work at balancing your consciousness so your mind retains, at least, a single thread of consciousness.

Generally, we do this by keeping our minds active in some manner… in the case of the “Noticing” exercise, it’s placing our conscious intent within the blackness behind our eyes and noticing the changes of that which we’re seeing.  In the “Rundown” exercise, we’re placing our intent within the visualized scene that we’re creating with our imagination.

Well, what if, while we’re in the non-physical, we do this act in reverse?  When you feel yourself beginning to lose the non-physical consciousness, begin immediately placing your intent on something within the non-physical, in essence it’s allowing you to focus your intent more INTO the non-physical and away from the physical, which is where your intent seems to be going when you’re slowly in the process of waking up.  In other words, bring your focus/attention to something on or around you in the non-physical.  It’s kind of the same act as increasing your awareness from Lucid to Astral in the first place, except you don’t need to ask yourself any questions.  Your goal here is to give your mind something non-physical to focus on so it ignores the physical reality sensations.

A lot of people say to look at or rub your hands together.  I believe I now understand why that works… because it’s giving you something to focus your mind on that’s away from the physical senses that you’re beginning to feel.

From the point when I begin to feel that I’m waking up to the point when I actually do wake up… seems to be anywhere around 5 – 10 seconds.  So, perhaps it’s best to not even wait for that signal to happen and just do this exercise every minute or so, because once the signal occurs, it doesn’t take long before you’re back in bed wondering what happened.

He doesn’t speak directly on the topic of Astral Projection, but the topics and concepts he’s introducing here can be applied 100% to Astral Projection and other areas of your consciousness life.

I very highly suggest that when you watch this to listen to him and try to FULLY COMPREHEND that which he is saying, because it really is of utmost importance. Then try to apply it to your own Projection practices. 🙂

What is Visualization and How Do I Do It?

EDIT: I knew this would happen eventually… I apparently already made a post on this particular subject and linked this very link back in the beginning of September.  Oh well.  I actually consider this to be the very CORNERSTONE of learning how to do Phasing.  In other words, it\’s definitely worth a second look.  Please read it carefully and try to understand EXACTLY what he\’s trying to say here.

Being able to do some sort of visualization seems to be a huge part of astral projection.  With that said, I\’m CONSTANTLY seeing people talking about it and doing it wrong… not to mention there seems to be a vast group of people who believe they can\’t visualize worth beans.

These people are WRONG… *EVERYONE* can do visualization just fine, they\’ve just been conditioned lately to believe it\’s something completely different.  So, rather than me explaining what\’s wrong with peoples idea of visualization, I\’ll just link Robert Bruce\’s NEW article he wrote SPECIFICALLY on visualization.  I agree with every word.

http://www.astraldynamics.com.au/content.php?205-Part-2-NO-Visualization

I\’ll post the first bit here to get you started… then head over there and read the rest! 🙂

Taken altogether, the required skills for any kind of energy work or metaphysical development can seem pretty daunting. But please don\’t panic! Taken one at a time the individual skills needed for development are very simple. They are all very easy to learn and do when explained and taught in just the right way. Anyone can learn them! The following development units are carefully structured to present everything in just the right order to make the learning process as easy and painless as possible.

No prior skills are required to begin with. I have designed the coming sections with the complete novice in mind, but while also catering for the needs of intermediate and advanced students. Anyone can learn and use these techniques, even if they have never had any previous success with energy or development work. I say this without reservation. Some of the theories, techniques and processes offered here are quite new, while other components are clever innovations on existing knowledge; but all are extremely effective. Using these tools it will not take years of hard work before any noticeable results are achieved. In fact, because of their effectiveness most people will get worthwhile results the very first time they use them.
What\’s NEW About Visualization?

Let\’s face it, 99% of people can\’t visualize for peanuts! No, let me rephrase that, 99% of people think they cannot visualize. But this is all wrong too, because I know that one-hundred percent of people can visualize perfectly. Everyone does it all the time. They just don\’t know they are doing it. If you are one of the many people that has problems with visualization, then this is the chapter you have been waiting for all your life.

The above stated problem comes about simply because visualization is generally so poorly explained and taught these days. Visualization is considered by many to be an ability that takes years to master. But visualization is extremely easy and it does not take any time at all to master. It is a natural ability that everyone has and uses all the time. It is an ability that anyone can do with virtually no training or practice.

There are profound in-built problems with the majority of today\’s popular New Age visualization-based techniques. This is especially apparent with popular energy body and Chakra development techniques, if you seriously examine them. I have come across countless developmental problems relating to this single issue. This problem is so serious it greatly increases the difficulty levels encountered with any kind of serious development work. Development time is thereby seriously lengthened. As a consequence the majority of people give up well before they get any noticeable or worthwhile results.

To illustrate a part of this problem: if you belong to a meditation or development group, go and ask everyone, one at a time and in private, how they really get on with visualization. Note the slightly worried looks you\’ll get with this question if you push it, especially from those teaching it. If they are completely honest most people will admit to having a few basic problems with visualization, or that they just can\’t do it at all. But you will also find a few who will claim to have no problems whatsoever. These lucky few can easily see in their mind\’s eye whatever they visualize – just as if they are watching a little TV behind their closed eyelids, in their mind\’s eye. The lucky few with this type of visual ability are unintentionally a part of this widespread self-propagating problem.

What are Astral Projections?

I\’m ending this three-parter with my opinion on what Astral Projections are.

Astral Projections and Lucid Dreams are VERY similar, actually they\’re the same experience with one difference:  You.  Sometimes it\’s VERY HARD to determine which experience you are in because of it.  The difference is not the environment you\’re in because the area of consciousness where the two (including normal dreams) take place is the same.  So, if the area of consciousness that these experiences happen in is the same, then what exactly IS that difference I mentioned?  I mentioned in the What are Lucid Dreams article that LD\’s are when you recognize that you\’re in the non-physical (dream).  That knowledge is really the ONLY requisite.  You probably won\’t have any notion that you actually have a physical body somewhere else that is fast asleep.  Well, an Astral experience is when you recognize that you\’re in the non-physical AND you retain all your waking faculties/awareness (or as close to it as possible).

Now, for me… this area you now find yourself in is, in essence, the same place where you dream.  This opens up a world of endless possibilities for you.  You\’re limited, LITERALLY, only by your imagination.  If you want to fight demons or dragons?  Go right ahead!  If you want to talk to elven folk or perhaps visit some faeries?  You can do so!  You can also sift through every memory your physical senses have ever recorded… this is where it starts getting really interesting.  So yeah, whatever you want to do/experience, you\’re able to do/experience.  This area, I call Focus 2 oC as per Frank Kepple\’s model of reality.  It\’s your own personal area of consciousness… sometimes referred to as your \”imagination\” or \”subconscious\”.

You can, however, use this area as a jumping board to Focus 3 oC (again F. Kepples Model), which is what I refer to as \”Collective Consciousness\” area.  Focus 3 oC is where you\’ll meet other \”people\” who are either projecting, or even people who have already physically died and have no physical body anymore.  You may also call upon actual guides to come assist you.

To get to Focus 3 oC from your current Focus 2 oC area you need to clear your mind and stop your thoughts/emotions from fueling the Focus 2 scenario around you.  Doing this will cause the Focus 2 environment to fade away and you\’ll start to see the Collective Focus 3 oC environment come into view.  From there, do what you want.  However, just remember that to remain in Focus 3 oC you need to always keep that tight grip on your thoughts and emotions, or you\’ll start to get Focus 2/3 overlays happening.  Basically, this means that dream imagery will start to creep into your Focus 3 experience… and if you don\’t stop it, you\’ll be pulled back into Focus 2 oC until you can calm your mind down again.

Dream, Lucid and Astral Awareness… these three states of awareness are very important to understand if you care enough to define your experiences.  There are more than just these three levels though.  Between each state of awareness is a wide range.  Think of it as a spectrum with \”Dream Awareness\” on one end, \”Astral Awareness\” at the other end, and \”Lucid Awareness\” in the middle… your consciousness can be along that spectrum anywhere at any time and you can potentially go through the entire range within a single non-physical experience.

So happy traveling!  Enjoy every second of it!

Frank talks about Robert Focus Model

I was doing a forum search earlier on the Astral Pulse trying to find mention of Focus 22, the area of consciousness where we dream and do other \”non-physical\” things… and I stumbled across a boat load of great information that I wish to share here.

I\’m going to provide the links to the posts in question, but I\’m only going to quote sections of each here for the purposes of this article.  I do fully encourage everyone to go to each link and read the threads in full as they have so much wonderful information in them.

At Focus 10, having difficulty going past Posted on June 19, 2005
This is a short post, so I figured I\’d just put it all here anyways… he speaks a bit about the trouble of the \”physical eyes\” stealing a glance and how you can fix that. This is a problem that I still face constantly.

Hi:

In the early days the moment I\’d see an image in mind, my physical eyes would suddenly \”wake up\” and try to snatch a glance at whatever it was. Of course, that would zap me right out of the state I\’d just spent 30-40 minutes developing. I\’ve said before that often I\’d feel like gouging my eyes out in frustration. 🙂

A key to all of this is getting the physical eyes to relax and soften. So you are not actually looking out of them anymore. When you first close your eyes, you’ll still be looking out of them. So you need to let them relax so they just hold still in whatever position they feel comfortable. Mine tend to drift upwards and there is a point of rest that they naturally go to that is the same each time.

This relaxing of the eyes, coupled with the relaxation of the physical body is what allows the focus of attention to move away from the eyes so you can change your mental focus of attention into your mind. The physical is our Primary Focus so you need to try to seduce that focus of attention away from the physical, as I was talking about in a couple of posts over the past week. Once you break the connection to the physical, you are free to look into your mind. As I say, that is when the lights come on, in a manner of speaking, and all kinds of weird and wonderful imagery comes about at the beginning of Focus 2. If you wish, you can you pass through this stage and reach Fz, which is your gateway to Focus 3. Fz is Focus 21 of the Monroe model and Focus 3 encompasses Monroe Focus states F23 to F27 inclusive.

Yours,
Frank

The second part of the post he speaks about the Focus Zero (Fz) area of consciousness. Earlier in his time posting on the Pulse he referred to this area as the \”Astral Bridge\” and further along as the \”3D Blackness\”. It\’s the area of consciousness that Robert Monroe labeled Focus 21 and is the area that we pass through to get to the dream area (Focus 22).  I believe I experience this each time I go from a Lucid Dream back to the Physical… as my vision goes to complete blackness before shifting back to the Physical.

Was this Phasing? Posted on January 02, 2003
This post was made just over a couple years before the one above, and from this one we find his understanding of the \”Astral Bridge\” which I referred to above.

Ralph: Phasing is a process that takes you from C1 consciousness… to the Astral bridge zone at Focus 21 (which I think we have now determined is the 3D Blackness stage) and beyond.

This next section he speaks about the Focus 22 state and how we get there via our physical bodies unconsciously fall asleep.

Generally, lucid dreams are created when a person has \”phased\” to the mental focus 22 state. This is the first Astral region you step into from the bridge zone at focus 21. When a person falls asleep, their sense of conscious awareness naturally phases out of the Physical, crosses the bridge zone and, as it does so, it enters the first main realm where thought equals direct action. (I say main-realm because, technically, the focus 21state is the first realm where thought has this effect. But this is more a buffer zone than a realm proper.)

Problem is, as the mind has little conscious control, all manner of thoughts and emotions can be released. Which goes to creating and fuelling the circumstances that come to surround the person. In other words, the person begins dreaming.

With a little practice, as most of us know, it is possible to teach your sense of consciousness to \”come awake\” within a dream. This then gives a person a degree of conscious control over their thoughts which, in turn, gives them the ability to manipulate their dreamscape. However, if a person can retain a high degree of conscious control, it is possible to skip focus 22 entirely.

Where I say, above, that while the physical body falls asleep the mind crosses the astral bridge zone and slips into the mental focus 22 state… that is only largely due to the fact there is little conscious control. If normal alert waking consciousness is retained while the physical body drops off to sleep, the mental focus 21 state can be used as a portal through which you can phase directly to a higher level.

The second paragraph is him referring to a normal dream. Where by you pass into the non-physical, past the Focus 21 Fz Bridge area all the while being unconscious of this shift.

Gateway Wave 1 pointers Posted on October 04, 2002
Another short one, so I\’ll just quote it all.

The Astral screen effect comes about at Focus 21. When you step into it, this is the Phasing to Focus 22. As I said in an earlier post, Focus 22 is also known as the Lucid Dream state. But you are entering this state with full waking consciousness; as opposed to \”waking up\” within a Lucid Dream where you generally only have part conscious awareness, which makes a BIG difference.

If you Phase further and find yourself amongst all kinds of black and grey nasty stuff teaming with every manner of Human crud, then you are in Focus 23. And if you think Focus 23 is weird then Phase further and prepare to be weirded out to the n\’th degree. Smiley

Yours,
Frank

The \”Astral Screen\” he refers to here is apparently an effect that comes out due to the Fz. A black screen of sorts which you pass through. As I\’ve experienced it, it would be like a thick sheet of warm water that you would \”walk through\”. We don\’t normally experience this when we fall asleep because you\’re rather unconscious by that point.

Is an AP during a dream, a real AP? Posted on July 16, 2005
The part I liked best from this post is this:

All dreams, by mere definition, must surely be “projection” experiences. Plus, I concur with your meaning of project. Although I tend to use the word shift, as in shift one’s focus. But shift or move or whatever… it’s the same difference.

The problem with dreams is people often get to thinking that dreams are all “in your head” so to speak. That you are in some way walking about in your brain. This faulty thinking unfortunately occurs as a result of people thinking the mind is somehow a product of the brain. It is actually the other way around. 🙂 This leads to people talking in terms of, “… I thought I was projecting… but it was just a dream.” [emphasis on the just]

In this sense, a person is thinking that the only “real” projection is a projection of consciousness that would present the impression of being “out” of body. And this all boils down to the mistaken notion that there can possibly be such a thing as “out” of body.

He mentions the misinterpretation that I believe most people do when they try to define their experiences… and they start questioning their experience and seem to think that it was \”JUST\” a dream. It\’s never JUST a dream. 🙂

Astral Proper and Training Zone Posted on April 25, 2003
Without re-posting some information, I\’ll quote this:

A technique I find very effective is, every now and again, I\’ll come to a complete halt, focus on some detail or other and ask myself a simple question about it. What this serves to prevent is a situation where you begin getting excited. Getting excited has the effect of making you think and move too quickly. So you start flitting here, there and everywhere and your progress is stunted.

This effect is prevalent in accounts of people\’s early experiences. They tend to follow along the lines of: suddenly I realise I was dreaming; and then I found myself [at some place or other]; and there was this [some kind of event]; and then I saw [some other event]; and then suddenly I was [transported to some other scene]; but before I knew it the thing had changed [to yet another scene]; and then it became [whatever]; and next moment I was awake.

The other pitfall to avoid, is making snap-judgements as to whatever comes about.

He starts off with the technique that I currently use to convert my Lucid Dreams into full Astral Projections. It works very well if you can remember enough to do it! LOL

The last line there about making Snap-Judgments is also very important. This is part and parcel of keeping your thoughts under strict control while projecting.

Retrieval Question Posted on January 10, 2003

Dreaming is done mostly in the Focus 22 state. Problem is, people who are sans physical-body can\’t reach Focus 22. Their limit is Focus 23 which is where a lot of these retrievals take place. But they can also take place in the higher realms of Focus 24; 25 & 26.

This is a bit of information that I just recently figured out myself by looking at my ideas at how the Astral and the Wider Reality is actually formed. I see the Physical as a sort of bubble of \”condensed astral matter\” and to reach this matter one has to push their way through the barrier that separates the two. I believe this pushing of the barrier creates our Focus 22 environment. So, once we physically die, that Focus 22 section retracts back into the Astral whole again, unusable anymore by us. It\’s ONLY available to us while we have our primary focus here in the physical.

A loop is simply where someone thinks in a certain way; which causes a particular mix of emotion to be released; which instantly creates a particular set of circumstances surrounding them; which causes the person to continue thinking in that same certain way; which causes the same mix of emotion to be released; which continues to fuel the same circumstances that surround them; which causes the person to continue thinking in that same certain way; which causes the same mix of emotion to be released…….

Here he speaks about the loops that one can get into. These are what \”retrievers\” save people from. They try to break the emotion loop that one has created so that they can bring the soul into the higher areas free of such loops.

I encourage you to read this thread as he goes on to explain the different TYPES of loops that you can get caught in.

Phasing/OBE What\’s the difference? Posted on October 23, 2002
Just a quick small quote here, please do read the entire thread, it\’s really good.

Yes, we are, but only when we have learned the basic ground-rules that apply, i.e. remaining emotionally closed with thoughts in check. Else we just get stuck at Focus 22.

He mentions here getting \”stuck\” at Focus 22 due to not remaining emotionally closed. This happens because if you allow your emotions and thought to run unchecked, they\’ll simply be creating the environment around you. So if you want a more \”Astral Proper\” experience, in that you want to speak with other people deceased or spirits who even never incarnated here on Earth, then you\’ll need to learn to remain emotionally closed and keep your thoughts under control. 🙂

Anyway, that\’s all I wanted to go over… I know it\’s a lot, but I think it\’s well worth the read. Especially if you\’re having troubles understanding Robert Monroes Focus Models. As for Franks Focus Model… Focus 21 and 22 reside in Franks Focus 3 oC. Robert\’s Focus 23 and up coincide with Franks Focus 3 oC.

As always, if you have any questions pertaining to this or other articles here, please visit my forums and ask! Thanks!

Exploration 27 and the Healing/Regeneration Center

This is a video I just stumbled upon from TMI, hosted by Skip Atwater, the current President of TMI. He\’s explaining Focus 27 and the Healing/Regeneration Center. It\’s a pretty good video. It\’s a 5 parter, each following part you can access at the end of the previous one. So just keep clicking through them and watch. 🙂

I found Parts 4 and 5 particularly interesting.
Part 4 he talks about Focus 33, which really sounds like the creative area where one can make their own \”ANYTHING\”. In some cases, people report creating for themselves a little home to go to for when they physically die. This Focus 33 sounds like that area… I believe it would be in Focus 3 oC in Franks model.

Part 5 has some interesting charts showing some rather interesting statistics they found. Focus upon the Illness and Drug related ones. 🙂

Enjoy!

What are Lucid Dreams?

I made a post a couple days ago regarding my views on what a Dream is and I figured I\’d continue this and write about my views on Lucid Dreaming… I guess I\’ll finish off with an article about my views on Astral Projection.

I find that people get confused with the idea of Lucid Dreaming thinking that one needs to be in full control of their environment for it to be considered a Lucid Dream, however Lucidity and Control are two separate ideas.  Being \”Lucid\” in a dream, at the very minimum, means that you know you\’re dreaming.  You might not know that your physical body is asleep in your bed, but you do know that you\’re in the non-physical.  That\’s it really.

In my first post about \”Dreams\”, I mentioned something I call \”Dream Awareness\”.  This is, generally, the first level of awareness one will have in the non-physical if you enter through normal sleep, people mostly refer to this as \”having a dream\”.  Now we\’ll move onto the next level, that I call \”Lucid Awareness\”.  As I said before, this ONLY means that you realize that you\’re dreaming.  Nothing more, nothing less.  It does not denote control over the dream.

So, let\’s move onto the cool and crazy stuff you can do in a Lucid Dream!  While you have Lucid Awareness, you\’re limited only by your imagination.  Whatever you want or desire can manifest directly in front of you in full technicolour 3D.  🙂

Manifesting these scenes and controlling your Lucid Dream isn\’t as tough as it sounds because your subconscious, which usually has full control while you\’re in \”Dream Awareness\”, is still highly active, it\’s still in the foreground of your consciousness.  So, to change what you want, you simply have to visualize it.

For example, the other night in a Lucid Dream I had, I was showing someone how I could destroy buildings.  I pointed to a skyscraper off in the distance, I put my forearms together in front of it and then pulled them apart… we watched how the building split in two right down the middle.
Another example is one of my greatest joys I have in dreams, is flying.  To do this, you need to visualize yourself flying.  The simplest way to do that is to just pretend you\’re superman.  Just jump into the air and pretend you\’re him… you\’ll take off.  🙂

So that\’s my view on Lucid Dream/Lucid Awareness.  If you have any particular question or need to know something specific to this, or if I just didn\’t make something very clear, please head on over to the UB Forums and ask away!  🙂

The Physical is an Astral Environment

I\’ve been thinking lately… what if this physical reality we hold so dear as being a solid reality is ACTUALLY just a non-physical reality? Through Quantum Physics, humanity is already starting to get a glimpse that our world is actually made up of probabilities.

In the non-physical what we think becomes reality, any stray thought that comes to mind will instantly come into being in full technicolour 3D right in front of your non-physical eyes. Now, what if I said that this also happens here in the Physical as well?

Take instances of hauntings where items are flung around the room… is that some outside force doing the flinging or is it the person in the room doing the flinging and not realizing that their subconscious thoughts are initiating this reaction?
What about supposed miracles that happen throughout the world? People with Terminal Diseases suddenly and for inexplicable reasons being cured permanently. Is this really a miracle? Or the person healing themselves by subconsciously desiring AND believing it.
And there are more unexplained instances, like that of people lifting cars and trucks to free loved ones trapped beneath… the list goes on and on.

What if these acts we think are coming from outside of us are actually coming FROM WITHIN US. This would mean that our thoughts DO have a direct impact upon our physical reality and what we experience. What if the trick isn\’t simply believing it? What if the trick was going BEYOND believing and stepping into KNOWING?

It\’s just a thought. 🙂

Lucid Awareness Experience – November 1st, 2010

So, I had a mega long lucid dream early last night. Unfortunately, I can\’t really remember too much of it… I have a bunch of jumbled, seemingly random scenes playing out in my head right now that I\’m having trouble reconciling them.

I do remember having what I call \”Lucid Awareness\” throughout it, meaning that I didn\’t know much else beyond the fact that I was in the non-physical. So, unlike my previous conscious experience, in which I had \”Astral Awareness\” (aka, I was FULLY awake in the non physical), this experience wasn\’t quite there. This tells me that this entire experience took place in Focus 2, mostly because of all the dream imagery involved.

I do remember flying around a lot… and strangely enough, I remember blowing up buildings. I was demonstrating to the person who was with me by pointing to a building in the distance and splitting it in two. I\’ve tried to do this kind of thing in the past, but had very little success… I think it was good this time because I wasn\’t fully aware at the moment, so my subconscious was still semi in control of things. If I had Astral Awareness it probably wouldn\’t have been so easy. With that said, I also wouldn\’t have had some very strong dream imagery either… as my subconscious mind was still in full swing fueling my scene.

This entire experience felt like it took place over a good hour or so. I do remember slipping back into the physical roughly 3 times throughout this non-physical adventure. Each time I felt it was happening so I managed to keep my eyes shut as I woke, so it was quite easy to stay still and shift back to the non-physical within 10 – 15 seconds. I can\’t tell you enough how good this particular technique is to remaining in a non-physical environment.

And now that I\’m thinking about it… I was reading some more of John Magnus\’ book \”Astral Projection and the Nature of Reality\” right before bed… and I remember reading something about that very thing. I remember a point where he was saying to use an affirmation of, something along the lines of, being able to wake up slowly so that I could keep my eyes closed. I guess my mind decided that the best way to do that was to become lucid in the non-physical so it could initiate that \”eyes closed\” thing. This would account for the rare \”early night\” lucid dream that I had.

Anyway, the last thing I really remember was shifting back into the Lucid state then immediately entering a false awakening where I was riding my bike by some reservoir thinking to myself, \”Wow, what a strange lucid dream I just had\”… at that point I had shifted back into a Dream Awareness so I didn\’t realize I was STILL in the non physical. I find it funny that I didn\’t make the connection that I was JUST having a Lucid Dream, and now I was outside riding my bike… LoL

This was, quite possibly, the longest non-physical experience I\’ve ever had and considering that the longest up until this point was only about a month ago… I\’m left wondering what this means. We\’ll see what the future has in store. 🙂

False Awakening – October 24, 2010

I really haven\’t found much to post lately… I have been trying though!   🙂
So I figured I\’d just post a really quick False Awakening I had this morning.

I initially woke up this morning at 7am… I thought I had to get up for work, but then I remembered that it was Sunday! That\’s probably one of the best feelings in the world… realizing that you don\’t really have to get up yet and can go back to sleep.

Anyway, I fell back asleep and woke up again… I looked at the clock and it said 11:30am. I thought, \”Wow, that\’s kinda late, I should probably get up…\”
I didn\’t get up and drifted back to sleep, which I woke up AGAIN and it was 9:30am. O_o That\’s when it hit me that the 2nd time I woke up, I really didn\’t wake up at all. I was in the non-physical with \”Dream Awareness\”.

For a quick description for those who might not have read my new designations, when you\’re \”dreaming\” (aka in the nonphysical) and you\’re simply going along with it, believing that you\’re fully awake, I call that having a \”Dream Awareness\”.

This is what a \’false awakening\’ is… you being in the nonphysical, but still going along with it as if you were fully awake.

Anyways, just thought I\’d relay this experience… it\’s not much, but it\’s something for now. 🙂

What is the Physical?

What follows is me just… thinking outloud.  🙂

I was reading more of John Magnus\’ book last night, \”Astral Projection and the Nature of Reality\” and I got to the part where he\’s explaining what he feels the \”Physical\” is.  He also has it posted on his facebook group page too.

It really got me thinking about the wider reality and how the physical is situated within that reality and all of the connective layers therein.

What if this physical reality is nothing more than just another \”astral environment\”.  Sure, this reality feels very solid, and it\’s very much more resistant to thought-changes, but in the end, this is just one large, collective astral environment created out of the energy of the nonphysical as a place to learn and experience.

In the near future, I predict that quantum mechanics or some other branch of science will end up figuring out that the base material that everything in this physical reality is comprised of is this astral/nonphysical energy.  Or, perhaps we could say… consciousness?

Then I got to asking myself what is the place that we dream, how does it connect and how do we enter this physical reality to begin with?  What is the nonphysical area of consciousness where we do our dreaming each night and where we \”astral\” project?  What if through this area we are connected to the collective consciousness area OUTSIDE of this physical reality.  Perhaps to exist within these physical bodies, we\’re required to kind of \’drill\’ our consciousness through the outside barrier connecting to these bodies using a \’tunnel\’ of sorts.  This tunnel is the \”astral\”… a thin strand of nonphysical reality that we pull into this physical reality that serves as a connection to the rest of the consciousness continuum.

What if we thought of the physical reality as being a balloon.  How would you place your consciousness within the balloon?  Well, there would be connecting points within the balloon already, we call them our \”bodies\”… then you would pierce your consciousness through the barrier of the balloon taking a small stream of nonphysical \”connective\” energy with you which would keep you linked to the collective consciousness.  You\’d drill further into the balloon until you came into contact with your \”body\”.

So then, once our physical bodies die… this strand of nonphysical \”connective\” energy would retract back to the astral, hence removing the \”dream\” area permanently.  We would have no need of this \”astral tunnel\” after the fact.  However, would it then be possible to perhaps, albeit temporarily, push our way through that barrier just to visit this physical reality as, say, what people would refer to as a \”ghost\”?

So, it makes sense to me that this entire physical reality is simply an astral construct.  A construct that is comprised of the base material of the nonphysical reality.  I mean, as we try to break down matter, we find that it\’s less and less dense the deeper we go.  How far down the rabbit hole does it go exactly?

Any of this make any sense?  🙂

Question regarding Birth Choice and Birth Defects

I had an interesting thought the other day as I was thinking about how we come into this world and how we choose certain aspects of this life.  I fully believe that we work out a \’basic\’ path for ourselves, but whether that path gets fulfilled or not is entirely upon our life choices WHILE we\’re here.

But then I got to thinking about people who are born with what we, humans, would call birth defects.  Some of these people, literally, can not care for themselves as they get older and require outside assistance.

My question is do we CHOOSE this kind of life for ourselves?  Or, upon entry to this physical reality, do we expect perfectly working physical bodies?
When we project, we have perfect forms.  Did we expect this to be in reverse when we came here?  Or, one could ask if there are imperfect nonphysical forms?

If we choose that kind of life for ourselves, then there must be some kind of value sought by your nonphysical consciousness.
However, if these defects are unwelcome by our nonphysical consciousness, then something PHYSICAL, here on this planet, is causing these defects and they go against our chosen path plan.

I\’m curious what other people think about this.

Are birth defects caused by choice or by physical environmental factors outside our nonphysical nature?

Morning Projection – October 11, 2010

I wanted to journal my experience I had this morning.

So, the first thing I remember was finding myself standing in a very beautiful grassy scene.  I had completely bypassed Lucid Awareness and apparently went straight to Astral Awareness.  I could see rolling, green hills for as far as the eye could see.  I remember looking up at the blue sky, and it was so very beautiful.  I just remember standing there for a few short seconds taking it all in.  The colours were absolutely brilliant.  I believe this was a Focus 3 oC area.

Standing around in this field were MANY people.  I didn\’t notice anyone wearing any strange clothing… they all seemed to be rather modern.  Some of them were standing off by themselves, others were standing in groups having conversations.

What I believe was a teenage girl came up to me and started talking.  I don\’t remember what the original conversation was, but I do remember asking her name in the hopes of getting some information about her that I could try to confirm when I returned to the physical.  Her name was Cardiff.  Unfortunately, I didn\’t get a last name or any other information regarding her…  I do remember \’chatting it up\’ with a few of the other people there, but I don\’t remember the details of them.  I remember one big burly fellow giving me a big hug… he seemed to know me, I dunno from where though.  All throughout these chats with people, I remember jumping up and flying around a bit.  I absolutely LOVE flying.  🙂

So anyways, around this time, I began to feel that I was dropping back into Lucid Awareness… because I was starting to see some Focus 2 oC environments overlay into my experiences.  I then began to feel myself wake up… the good thing here was that I woke up slow enough that I was able to keep myself still and my eyes closed, HOWEVER, I also had to go to the bathroom, which was probably the initial reason why I woke in the first place.  LoL

My initial goal this morning was to try Personalreality\’s new LD inducing sound file… but, since I didn\’t need it this morning, I skipped that.  I\’ll try it sometime this week or probably next weekend. 🙂

Personalreality\’s \”What is the Non-Physical\”

Personalreality, from the Astral Pulse, is writing a multi-part post on his personal blog, Shades of Consciousness, about \”What is the Non-Physical\”.

His first part is up already.  It\’s a great read, and I think everyone should take, at the very least, a quick glance over it.

I\’m looking forward to reading the rest of his posts in this series.

My New Consciousness Designations – “States of Mind”

I was dreaming this morning and I came to a realization after I awoke.  I realized that the term “Conscious awareness” just doesn’t work when using it to describe anything more than your awareness during a dream, or in any case, it makes it more confusing.  I need a phrase or phrases to make it easier for new people to learn the concepts and a catch all “Conscious Awareness” just doesn’t do that, because once you pass into Lucid Dreams and even further, Astral Projections, the term begins to fail.

We dream every night of our lives, yet we don’t remember all of them, why?  We have varying levels of consciousness through these dreams… everything from not remembering that a dream ever happened, to remembering bits and pieces of a dream, to remembering every last detail of the dream.

I was thinking about how we “remember” our dreams… and I realized that the dreams I remember most, are the ones in which I was most consciously aware in.  Not consciously aware in that I knew I was dreaming… but consciously aware that I was experiencing the dream AS it was happening.  I call this “Dream Awareness“.  Basically, I’m living the dream life as if I was awake and not realizing it’s a dream.  I am the actor not realizing he’s in a play.  This tends to give me the best chance to remember after I wake.

The next step up from that would be “Lucid Awareness“.  This is the point where you know you’re dreaming and you know that what is around you is a dreamscape.  You don’t have much more awareness than that though.

After that, I’d call it “Astral Awareness“.  At this point, you are as wide awake and aware as if you were awake in the physical reality… except you’re in the nonphysical.

Also, I believe that the line between Lucid Awareness and Astral Awareness can be very blurred.  Your awareness can float between that range at any one time during the experience.  You’ll start off with Lucid Awareness, then muster up Astral Awareness… after some time, you might lose focus and concentration and drop back down to Lucid Awareness.  You could shift back into Dream Awareness too.

For myself, I start off with Dream Awareness, then I’ll shift into Lucid Awareness… after that I’ll do my conversion to bring forth my Astral Awareness.  Generally what happens after some time in Astral Awareness is that I’ll just wake up.

So yeah, these are my new “States of Mind”.  Hopefully they’ll assist me in helping new members on the Pulse and other forums I frequent.

I guess you could say that this is the first thing I now disagree with Frank on!  🙂

Personalreality, from the Astral Pulse, wrote a nice reply to my post.
You can read it on his own personal blog, Shades of Consciousness.

Learn To Tell What Experience You\’re Having

To get you into the proper mindset in learning how to differentiate and interpret the many experiences (Dream, Lucid Dream, AP, OBE) one can have in the non-physical, I think the following statement sums it up nicely:

\”The difference is not in the nature of the reality but in the consciousness that observes/experiences it.\”

What I\’m saying here is that the nature of the reality you find yourself in (Dream, Lucid Dream, Astral Projection, Out of Body Experience, etc…) isn\’t defined by that reality.  It\’s actually the opposite.  You define the reality…  the nature of your experience is defined solely by your consciousness and how aware you are.

Our Other Bodies

Deus made a post on the Astral Viewers today asking an amazing question about what happens to our \”metaphyiscal\” bodies when we\’re no longer using them. I\’ll copy his post here:

So i had this idea swirling around my head for a while now. And i hope i won\’t sound totally insane for telling it. I will try to explain it the best i can.

So, what i was thinking is actually what happens to our \”metaphysical\” body when we stop dreaming, LD, AP and the sort. We can have the impression of being sucked in our physical bodies, or that we just simply wake up. I find it a bit hard to believe since our realities (RTZ and the other phases of perception) are somehow interlaced and don\’t have a pyramidal structure. And i don\’t believe anymore that we are \”getting out of the body\” but we simply switch our perception.

In my opinion we simply experience a form of death. Our metaphysical bodies dissolve and we come back to our primary reality i.e. the physical. Our physical bodies will dissolve/die one day too and our conciousness will permanently be transfered into a metaphysical body. So, the thing we percieve as awakening could be just the result of death. Only when we wake up from a dream we actually realise that we were dreaming all along (except from lucid dreams). I believe we temporarily \”project\” into another body which is destined to perish once we switch focus. And that will happen to us once we die.
We simply chage focus and this life will become a long and strange projection. What seems real now, will become the dream later.

I don\’t know, i just wanted to put it out in the open. I\’d love to know what you guys think about it.

It got me thinking about a post I made on the Astral Pulse regarding a question very similar.

Think of it this way… *You* can\’t die.
Each time you project Etherically, Astrally or whatever… you create a body to interact with the environment for that specific journey. You then focus your conscious awareness into that body and control it. <— SOUND FAMILIAR?

It\’s exactly how you operate here on the physical.
A body was created for you to interact with this physical environment.
Since this is your primary focus, you still need this body even if you switch your focus of awareness.

When you create a body for the etheric or astral… after you\’re done with that body, it\’s destroyed.
The same happens here. Once you\’re done with this physical body, it ceases to operate.

*IT* dies…
*YOU* do not.

Now that I\’ve actually put a bit more thought into it, I don\’t actually believe we have other \”bodies\” per se, what we experience when in the non-physical is just an expectation of a body.

What we \”see\” when we\’re focused into other realities is just a projection of our self-image. This \”image\” is completely a \”human\” need, it makes sense to our conscious mind that if we\’re \”somewhere\” we must have a \”body\” to be \”in\” (wow that was a lot of quotes LOL).  To expand on this, many people actually report that, as you spend more and more time \’out\’, you begin to slowly lose this \”human-self-image\” and begin to take on a more \”consciousness\” form… whatever that may be.

So, what happens to this \”human-self-image\” or \”consciousness\” form when you come back to your primary focus? Well… nothing.  Cause it never truly existed to begin with… yet, it also always exists too, because we exist across the entire consciousness continuum simultaneously.

I guess the question then becomes, does consciousness REQUIRE a vessel for which to work in a non-physical environment?
We know that we require a physical body to interact with this physical, Focus 1 oC reality… but I feel that\’s because of the particular \’physics\’ programmed into this reality.  In the non-physical, these physics do not exist…

I guess one could say that shifting/phasing your focus between realities is a \”form of death\”.  One could also say that \”dreaming\”, too, is a form of death we experience each and every time we fall asleep. The only difference between that and what we humans call \”death\” is that your primary focus will have shifted to another reality permanently.
